WHO ARE WE?

HeartCode is an initiative by Ellipsis, in collaboration with Devera to expose youths to programming and computer science concepts.
We want to create a sustainable framework for teaching students, to be implemented nationwide
We hope that through our program, a passion for programming and problem solving will be ignited within these youths.

WHAT IS LITTERING?

Littering is an increasingly prevalent bad habit of thoughtlessly throwing away or leaving rubbish lying around in public places instead of using the rubbish bins or wastepaper baskets provided. In Singapore, it is noted that most litterbugs were caught discarding cigarette butts, tissue paper, cigarette box wrappers and plastic cups inappropriately. So how often do such acts take place in Singapore?

More than 31,000 fines issued in 2016.

More than 1,700 corrective work orders (CWOs) imposed in 2016.

Estimated 200kg to 400kg of litter retrieved from the Singapore River daily.

36.2% of respondents in a 2010 study may litter if they believe they would not be caught.

541 enforcement actions taken against persons caught for high-rise littering in 2014.
